In 2005, China actively participated in the UN Peace Keeping Operation. 298 peacekeeping police officers were dispatched in shifts to the 5 task areas in Afghanistan, East Timor, Kosovo, Liberia and Haiti. In addition, China sent 12 peacekeeping police officers to the new task area in Sudan. By the end of 2005, the total number of dispatched peacekeeping police person/time had reached 719, which covered 7 task areas including East Timor, Afghanistan, Herzegovina and Serbia, Kosovo, Liberia, Haiti, Sudan. Currently, totally 197 peacekeeping police officers are implementing their missions in different task areas. The Chinese peacekeeping police officers fulfilled their responsibilities faithfully and won great reputation through their outstanding work. They not only contributed a lot to the peace and stability of respective task areas, but also earned credits for China.
