In 2005, with deeply implementing the Golden Shield Project among public security organs, the level of policing informationization has been improved dramatically. By and large, the first phase of the project has been completed.
Enhance the infrastructure construction of the police info-communication system by completing the 3-level trunk network and the continuing efforts to popularize the access to grass-roots public security organs. By the end of 2005, the access rate in grass roots public security organs has reached 80%. More than 600,000 computers have been linked with the police info-network.
Continue to push forward the construction of info-database and inquiry system. The construction of info-database and inquiry system lead by two major databases i.e. population information and criminal records were close to their completion. The information storage has reached 10 billion and is open to inquiry.
