In 2006, focusing on assuring security in penitentiaries, Chinese public security agencies strengthened the prevention in penitentiaries, and ensured the security and stability of the penitentiary places. Public security agencies further put forward the reformation of policing mode of the penitentiary places, and actively established the practical and effective working mechanism. Public security agencies made all efforts to dig further crimes, and cleared 235,000 criminal cases with the discovered 516,000 clues of offences and crimes, an increase of 26% and 12% respectively in comparison with the previous year.
