   International Cooperation

 

In 2006 public security agencies made remarkable achievements in international cooperation by enhancing mutual visits at high level, and consolidating bilateral and multilateral exchanges and cooperation in international policing to meet the need of law enforcement. Mr. Zhou Yongkang, member of the Political Bureau, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, paid visits successively to France, Russia, and USA. Meanwhile Mr. Noble, the Secretary-General of Interpol; Mr. Chertoff, Minister of USA Territory Security; Mr. Nurgalley, Minister of Russian Internal Affairs; Mr. Le Hong Anh, Minister of Vietnam Public Security, and other 28 leaders of foreign national interior or police agencies paid visits to China in the year. The Ministry of Public Security sent delegations to the 75th Congress of Interpol and the 19th Meeting in Asian Region of Interpol; sponsored the 8th Regional Counter-Terrorist Board Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the 7th Summit Meeting of Northern Pacific Coast Guards Forum, Shanghai Cooperation Drug Law Enforcement Seminar, China-ASEAN Workshop on best practices of law enforcement cooperation, and the Asian Training Course of Criminal intelligence Analysis of Interpol, and the 5th Working Group Meeting of Criminal Intelligence Directors of the Asian Regions; invited a total number of 20 foreign officers responsible for liaison with China in Central Law Enforcement Departments of ASEAN member countries to participate in language and policing training for a one-year term in China. Furthermore, the Ministry of Public Security also sent 23 groups of police management personnel within public security systems to take relevant training courses overseas, and carried out 41 talent-import projects by inviting 76 foreign experts to conduct lectures and academic exchanges in China.
